Summer Undergraduate Research Program
Bundelkhand University shall organize Summer Undergraduate Research
Program (SURP) of 14 weeks duration to impart practical training in
various newly emerging research techniques. The purpose of organizing
the courses is to reorient the existing manpower within a short period
of time to meet the immediate requirement of expanding R&D activities
in multidisciplinary subjects. The Bundelkhand University shall identify
the areas for training, universities and research institutions where
high expertise and adequate infrastructure exist for organizing these
courses.
Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) is designed to enable college
students to experience Laboratory Research from May to August every
year. Trainees undergo a sound theoretical and quality analytical training
in the various fields of inter-disciplinary sciences. The trainees shall
choose a specific area of research and training in consultation with
faculty. Motivational training is also provided to enhance their level
of achievements, quality orientation and productivity.
Application for training under SURP should be sent to The Director (SFS),
Bundelkhand University on plain paper so that it reaches on or before
April 30th every year.
Financial Assistance/ Awards to SURP Students
University is approaching to various funding agencies to support the
SURP trainees financially. The awards/ financial assistance, if instituted,
shall be awarded on the basis of merit-cum-means.
Science Outreach Program (SOP)
Science Outreach Program (SOP) is designed to enable college students
with a strong interest in an inter-disciplinary subject to experience
Laboratory Research from May to August every year. Bundelkhand University
and Host Institute to carry out research in different fields at leading
Research Institutes and Universities in India and abroad to provide
students financial assistance. Some of the Research Centers like Indian
Oil Corporation, Ranbaxy Research Laboratories and Guru Nanak Dev University
have shown their keen desire to train other students. Selected students
are matched according to their stated field of interest with Faculty,
who volunteer to supervise them.
Training Program for Industrial R&D Personnel
A proposal has been formulated to train the R&D personnel from industry
and national research laboratories in the select areas of interest.
The objective of the program is to interact with industrial houses and
work for mutual benefits to develop products and processes in the emerging
areas viz. drug discovery, software development, battery design, food
recipes etc. One such course will be conducted during December 2000.
International Collaboration The Bundelkhand University is in
the process of fostering close linkages with some of the foreign universities.
Preliminary discussions have already been held with Denver University,
USA and Soka University, Japan. Students and Faculty exchange program,
Research & Development sharing, Joint Course curriculum and IT exchanges
are the main themes.
Students Creativity Club
Students of the University and affiliated colleges run a creativity
club. To be creative, you do not require in
depth knowledge or skill. What you require is to expand your horizons,
vision and the attitude to go beyond the matter. Creativity club organizes
a host of activities, which include creative exercises, brainstorming,
group discussion, creative learning, creative listening etc. Creativity
in Action exhibition is planned for the year 2000
Publications
The objective of the scheme is to prepare publication in the various
field of education and research in the form of monographs, supplement
in science magazines, articles in Hindi and English and in regional
language through a syndicate feature service etc. A University Magazine
and Newsletter will be introduced soon on a regular basis. Publication
of articles in newspapers through news syndicate service will also be
started.
Forestation/ Plantation
Prof. Ramesh Chandra, Vice-Chancellor of the University is very keen
to see the University green. Since his joining in July 99, the University
has witnessed immense plantation of trees. In the first phase in August
99, more than 2000 plants were roped in the Campus and in January 2000
again, 2000 plants were seeded. All the departments are encouraged to
plant the trees in earth or in pots. Special emphasis is on the plantation
of medicinal trees & herbs.
Seminar/ Symposium/ National Level Programs
Bundelkhand University encourages organization of Seminar /Symposium
/National Level Programs on the various subjects. Each department and
college is provided with some seed money to organize seminars where
participation and presentation is not limited to local expertise but
of national /international level. The Department of Mathematical Sciences
and Computer Application, Department of Food Technology and Department
of Geology organized three such programs.
