Computer Center
The introduction of courses
like MCA, M.Sc. (Maths with Computer Application), M.Sc. (Statistics
with Computer Programming), Diploma in Library Automation, PGDCA
has necessitated the setting up of a computer center. Housed in
a picturesque building the center is very well equipped with latest
technology computers (Pentium III, Laser Printer, Modem etc. The
University plans to acquire the different software in the field
of management, Library & Inf. Sc. etc. The computer center will
be connected with LAN (Local Area Network) and will have interest
access facility. Students of other courses having computer awareness,
as one of the papers in their syllabus will also be provided practical
training on computers as per requirements at this computer center.
The Computer center consists of 45 Pentium-III Computers having
Window-98 Operating System. Three Main Servers having Novell Network,
Unix and Window NT provide LAN to the users. Electricity backup
of 5 KVA UPS is available which work for at least one hour during
electricity failures. Laser Printer, Scanner, MODEM and 6 nos. LQ
24 Pin Dot matrix Printers are available to the students. University
is already having dial-up Internet facility, which shall be upgraded
V-Set installation in the University Campus by DFC Line, is in the
process and soon a student can interact through Internet world over
at a very high speed. 100 nos. of latest model of computers shall
be added during session 2000-2001 to augment computer facilities
for the newly admitted students.
Most of latest packages and software viz. Oracle-8, Visual Basic
6, Java, MS-Office, Developer 2000, OOPS, E-Com, Multimedia, Tally,
Visual FoxPro, C++, COBOL are available at all the computers for
the benefit of students. Proxy Server for Internet and Silicon Graphics
machine for conferencing & main server shall be installed in
the center.
