Complimentary and Alternative Medicine
(CAM) draws upon all therapeutic systems to form a comprehensive
approach to art and science of medicine. Despite continued neglect
and apathy from majority scientific establishments towards its use,
many Allopathic practitioners have now began to recognize the virtues
of complementary medicine not only for the relief of illness but
for prevention, as well. In fact, naturopathy, massage, acupuncture,
yoga and the like practices mainly conceived in the Orient are already
gaining popularity, specially in the west. Thus, prospects of these
and other complimentary therapies are considerably bright. The Institute
of Complementary and Alternative Medicine is determined to achieve
the twin goals of (i) institutionalization of the concept, principles
and practices of Complimentary and Alternative Medicine by promoting
authentic research, creating quality literature, infusing social
awareness and forging closes bonds of co-ordination and understanding
with all concerned institutions and organizations and, (ii) creating
a cadre of committed and competent practitioners, researchers and
entrepreneurs who could realistically match the demand and htmlirations
of the people who believe on this school of therapy.. Students trained
in CAM will deliver integrative medicine along side Allopathic in
the changing health-scape. Initially this institute is working on
integrative approach based on seven types of alternative medicine,
namely, chiropractic, acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine,
massage, naturopathy, homeopathy, herbal medicine, & Ayurveda.Presently,
the Institute is offering following programs of study and research.
