INSTITUTE OF PHARMACY

Mission: To integrate the knowledge of medicine, clinical sciences and drug delivery systems for patient care.

Objectives:

- to innovate in pharmaceutical education and research.
- to impart state of art practical training in various fields of pharmacy.
- to find easy and adaptable solutions to public health care.
- to develop new formulations, easy routes and new drugs and drug delivery systems.
- to work extensively to integrate the knowledge for pharmaceutical industries.
- to develop teaching, administrative and research skills.
- to have greater appreciation for patient care.


The institute of pharmacy will be committed to pharmaceutical educations, research and patient care. Approximately 70% of Indias population exist in rural areas. The Pharmacy practice varies between Urban and rural areas. The majority of Pharmacists join the industry and position in PHC's remain largely vacant. Inspite of the fact that there are around 335 Pharmacy colleges in the country turning out app. 25000 diploma & Bachelor degree holders, the demand for trained pharmacists is always on the increase in PHC sand retail pharmacies. It appears that by 2010- high quality, clinical patient centered and cost effective pharmacy will thrive under the managed care-roof.

The pharmacy education today needs to focus on practice and environment surrounding modern health care delivery services. It requires instructions in Pharma Economics, Epidemiology, Molecular and Cellular Pathology and Toxicology, Drug Delivery Systems, Protein Structure and Deliver, Cancer, Heart, Lung & Blood Diseases, Synthetic and Analytical Medicinal Chemistry, Metabolism of Drugs and Environmental Chemical, Statistics and Clinical areas to enable future Pharmacist to be equally conversant as the physicians.

In addition, the Institute is devoted to take-up research projects on medicinal chemistry, clinical and field investigations of new drugs, new drug delivery systems, theoretical studies on drug discovery, clinical sciences and analysis.
